Fulton-Montgomery Community College is proud to announce that Augusto Silva has been named the first-ever recipient of the Andrew J. DiNitto Award, a newly established honor recognizing excellence both in the classroom and on the field.

The award benefits a graduating FMCC soccer student-athlete who plans to continue their education at a four-year college or university. Inspired by the example set by former soccer coach, Dr. Andrew J. DiNitto. The recognition celebrates the combination of academic achievement, athletic dedication, leadership, and commitment to personal growth.

Silva exemplified the values at the heart of the award throughout his time at FMCC. As a member of the soccer program, he demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to his teammates, and dedication to academic success while preparing for the next chapter of his educational journey. Gus will be attending Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas in the fall to pursue a Sport Management Major and play on the men's soccer team.

"It is an amazing feeling, and I am beyond grateful to have been given the opportunity to receive the first Andrew J. DiNitto Award. FMCC gave me the opportunity to grow both as a student and as an athlete. I just want to thank the DiNitto family and The FMCC Foundation for selecting me and I will be forever grateful and thankful for them," said Augusto Silva.

The Andrew J. DiNitto Award will continue to recognize FMCC soccer student-athletes who strive to balance academic success with athletic commitment while pursuing opportunities beyond FMCC.
