FM athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Jen Hazzard as the new men's and women's cross country coach. The Raiders Cross Country squad is set to compete this month.
Coach Hazzard is a native of Amsterdam and is a graduate of SUNY Oneonta with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. She also earned her master's degree in chemistry education from the College of Saint Rose. She is currently a full time chemistry and physics teacher at Gloversville High School. Hazzard is also a chemistry and physics adjunct professor at FM.
Coach Hazzard is an avid local runner and member of the Fulmont Roadrunners Club. She has five marathons, ten half marathons, and countless 10,8 and 5k races under her belt. Hazzard has won many of the races and plced 2nd in the Octoberfest Half Marathon in Peru, NY in 2012. She has coached high school cross country and indoor track for Amsterdam and Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.
Hazzard has hit the ground running in a short period of time here at FM. "I am very excited to get the cross country team back up and running at FMCC, even though we got a late start. I plan to recruit hard this fall locally and again in the spring at local cross country and track meets."
FM's Athletic Director Kevin Jones is optimistic, "We are looking forward to the addition of Cross Country and I'm looking forward to see what the 2016 season will bring. Coach Hazzard has done a great job for us so far."
The cross country squad has begun training and will start competition on September 24th.
