The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women's basketball team is set to open the 2025-26 season with a roster full of local talent, strong chemistry, and high expectations. Early practices have shown a group that is already connecting on and off the court, setting the tone for what could be another exciting year for the Lady Raiders.
"We've had great energy and chemistry right from the start, said Head Coach Kevin Jones. The players are working hard, competing every day, and really buying into what we want to do as a team."
The Raiders' roster features a mix of returning contributors and fresh faces, including Kieonna Christmas Hailey Monroe, Cloey Dopp, Sha Cooper, and Deonna Brodie — a group of transfers and a talented freshman who bring a blend of athleticism, size, and skill to the lineup. Mianna Jackson, Shiasia Williams, Liana Brown bring leadership and experience from last year's squad.
The coaching staff has emphasized conditioning and execution early on, with a focus on building a foundation at both ends of the floor. "We're working to get in shape and get all of our plans in place on both sides of the ball, said Jones. Our size is going to be a factor for most teams, and we have several players who can really shoot it."
After another strong campaign last year, FMCC's expectations remain high. The program continues to set its sights on a conference title, a Region III championship, and another trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Lady Raiders will open their season this weekend when they travel to play Bronx Community College and Orange Community College. They will open at home on Saturday, November 15th when they host Genesee at 1:00 p.m.
