The Fulton-Montgomery Community College women's basketball team continued its historic season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Rowan College South Jersey–Gloucester 76–50 in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball National Championship Tournament. With the win, the Lady Raiders improve to 23–3 overall and advance to the NJCAA DIII Championship Quarterfinals.
Fulton-Montgomery set the tone early and never looked back. The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 20–13 lead after the first quarter and used a dominant second quarter to break the game open, outscoring Rowan Gloucester 24–7 to take a commanding 44–20 halftime advantage.
The Raiders maintained control throughout the second half, using balanced scoring, strong rebounding, and a stifling defensive effort to keep Rowan Gloucester from mounting a comeback.
Kieonna Christmas led the way for FMCC with a game-high 22 points, while adding 15 rebounds and seven assists for a dominant all-around performance. Hailey Monroe followed closely with 21 points and eight assists, helping guide the Lady Raider offense throughout the night.
Shiasia Williams was highly efficient inside, finishing with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting, while adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Cloey Dopp contributed 10 points and five rebounds, rounding out four Lady Raiders in double figures.
With the victory, the Lady Raiders move on to the NJCAA Division III National Championship Quarterfinals, continuing their pursuit of a national title. They will take on Monroe Bronx on March 12th at 3pm EST.
